In the cabinet-like space of the studio in HOCHHAUS, the thoughts revolve around the circuit, which becomes quite literally legible through the use of old circuit diagrams serving as the backdrop to the installation. The digitally drawn lines in the photo drawings, realised on various media, evoke the model of the wave in the way they float through the pictorial space. Like a wave permeating various forms of matter, the installation also explores different forms of permeation.
Completed by objects, the digital drawings gain a sculptural continuation, for instance through a yellow dish cloth, a black kite with a red plastic horse, or a blue sunshade complete with trolley. The assembled objects and the predominantly Diasec-mounted digital prints encounter one another on equal terms and enter into a multi-layered dialogue. Through the superimposition of objects and materials, the impression of a wall relief emerges. The artist groups semantic units into tableaux by assigning them a shared material background.
Printouts on transparent film and plain paper can be discovered within the wall installation, bearing witness to the processual nature of Britz’s work. The underlying genre here is that of the still life. Everyday objects from different areas of life are condensed into laboratory-like experimental arrangements and subsequently digitally overdrawn. As a prototype of an engagement with the object, this pictorial type is of particular interest to Britz; in her work it undergoes a transformation into something surreal and laboratory-like and, through the overall installation, acquires a stage-like expansion. By incorporating various elements of play, the child’s room is also delineated in sculptural terms and deepened into a philosophically inquiring space
